A typical evening

Well, it's Saturday. And I haven't posted in FOREVER. The 21 day prayer challenge is going great. I still remember (a huge plus) to do it every weekday. I hope to write these out on note cards sometime and laminate them so I can keep these for the future and for easy reference.

Here's a video we took of Josh last night sporting his new NBA gear from our good friends, Tony and Mindy. Enjoy.

21 Days of Prayer

Thanks to my friend, Rachel she let me know of a great thing that is going on here. I am really excited for what this will do for me as well as Joshua. I know he is young but we already pray for his future, future spouse, friends, choices, salvation, etc. So even though I may not see "change" in him at his age right now, I want to get in the habit of praying scripture over him. I will be posting every Friday as an update of how it's going. I am praying for discipline as I find myself SO UNDISCIPLINED!!! I have a hard time of working out 3 times a week, reading my Bible daily, and even getting my laundry done. So it will be a challenge for me to do this. I pray that I will be successful with the Lord's help. The Lord knows I WILL NOT be able to do it on my own.

No more curls

Yep, we finally cut Josh's hair. And now he's a big boy!!!!!!! And now he's blonde! It's crazy how dark his hair looked before compared to what it looks like now. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing. We got inspired by my friend Amy and her husband Greg who cut their boys' hair tonight. I had planned on taking Josh in to a friend who cuts hair professionally. But Jeff has some clippers and scissors and he has been cutting his own hair for many years...so what the heck?! Let's make it a family thing and have his first hair cut done by his daddy. And it turned out great! It's much shorter than I had originally wanted to go but I think it will be great for summer. We put together a little video of it tonight. Enjoy.

Here's a "before" look at his hair

13 months!

Josh is 13 months old! I can't believe it. He is such a good baby. I really can't get over how easy he is. The only thing he does that makes me say "no" is either when he throws his food off of his tray or tries to get in the trash. But seriously, he is so sweet and so easy going. I am praying that if we have another baby, he or she is just half as easy. :)

He's 28 pounds and 32.5 inches long, both in the 95th percentile. He went for his 1 year check up on Tuesday. He was supposed to get 4 shots and then a blood draw but I am spacing out his shots so he got 2 shots and then the blood draw. It was HORRIBLE. I felt so bad for him. I know he was just mad and not really that painful but it's hard to see you child so upset when they are being held down. I'm so glad that's over.

And I am officially done nursing. This morning was my last time ever with Josh. Very bittersweet. I loved nursing and will miss it. But it is time and we are both ready. So technically, I'M FREE!!!!!! :)

And our bedtime routine is just unbelievable. I feel like some night, he's going to snap and it's going to be difficult but it is so super easy. We go to his room, put on his PJs and then read a couple books. Usually after that I turn the lights out, rock him as we say our prayers and sing a song. Then I just lay him down in his crib and he doesn't even move, he just goes right to sleep. But tonight, we got done reading books and he kept reaching for his crib. So I just turned the lights out, said a quick prayer and laid him down. Never heard a peep. I just went in to check on him and he hadn't even moved. Seriously???? Do I really have a 13 month old? And did my 13 month old just ask to be laid down in his bed? He must have my sleep habits...hit the pillow and in 20 seconds I'm out.

We feel so blessed to have Joshua as our son. He brings so much joy and laughter. He loves to "wrestle" by just falling on us. He likes to put anything that fits through his hoop. And he loves to walk out of the room but come back when no one follows him. I just love his sweet smile and he always has hugs for his mama.

This is a flash back to when Josh was 9 months old...his hair has grown so much and he has teeth now :)

A magic wand

How cool are these?! I am loving Lisa's designs. I ordered a necklace from her a couple days ago and can hardly wait until I get it!!!! But she has created this really cool wand and I would love to win one for one of my niece's! And if you look at earlier posts this week, there are some REALLY COOL kitchen magnets that I would love to have as well. Check her out!!!!

Fun with Grass

Josh loves being outside...I mean LOVES being outside. Several times a day, he walks over to the front door and starts crying to go outside (even if it's raining). :) He is definitely all boy.

Tonight we enjoyed some time outside before dinner and he loved it! He was a bit hesitant to walk on the grass but after a short while, he got used to it.

He has 4 teeth now and is working on two more top teeth. His bottom gums don't look like much is going on :)

And he is now sleeping at least 12 hours a night! Praise the Lord!!! I am only nursing once a day (morning) and even today, I went to work before he woke up so I didn't nurse him at all. He did just fine. So I'm sure we will be weaning completely here pretty soon. I have loved it so much. So I am a bit sad to stop but it's time. He is not that interested and it is nice to know he doesn't have to have it.

The Wildcats had a great season and made it to the Elite 8 in Branson. We are really proud of everyone! Josh did great on the trip. He did really well in the car (only a few minutes of crying) and slept decent. All in all, a great trip. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Life as a 1 year old

Future mechanic???

Love his smile!

Well, not much has changed since Josh turned one. He is into EVERYTHING now and his favorite thing is the trash can! Ugh! I can't get him to stay away from it. I have even sternly told him no and he cried for about 1 second then went straight back for it. I think I'm going to have to get a barrier. And he likes to put things INTO the trash can. So if I'm not careful, I will find my cell phone at the bottom of the trash. Just today, he put something clean from the dishwasher into the trash. Back into the dishwasher it went.

Before I go any further, HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLIAM HUGH TONAGEL!!!! He turned one today, exactly 2 weeks after Josh. What a sweet boy he is. The gang is going to have so much fun on our trip to Branson (so I'm praying!) Amy and I will be driving down next Tuesday, stopping in St. Louis, then finishing up the trip on Wednesday. Please pray for good kiddos, and most importantly I guess, for our sanity and patience!!! :) We are excited. We are praying for a fun (and successful) time for the Wildcats!

And now for what Josh can do/is up to:

1. The "words" he says now: duck, dog, dada, mama, down, ball, baby. I say "words" because I can understand them but probably the majority of people couldn't :)

2. He is only nursing morning and night. And just tonight, only nursed for a minute then pushed me away and reached for his crib. So I laid him down and he was FAST asleep. I guess I'm happy about that.

3. He loves dairy! Cheese especially. Loves chicken. So so on red meat. Pretty picky on his veggies but loves fruit.

4. Weighs 28 pounds, 30 inches tall, in size 24 month clothes.

5. Has 3 teeth. 4th should be in within a week I would guess.

6. Loves playing with his daddy. Loves giving mama hugs.

7. Loves to be outside. Can't wait for warm weather!!!

8. Knows where is head and belly are.

Have a great weekend!
